Corroding Electrical Breakers

Every year or so, I run into helping someone in our coastal area that has almost had a fire from a bad, corroded connection in the main electrical breaker panel.  The atmosphere is wet and salty which is terrible for electrical things but especially so for circuits that have a lot of current.

It is not something on any regular household maintenance list that I know of but is easy to check, easy to prevent or fix.

I'm posting this observation here with the thought of eventually getting something together to help people do a check/fix of this as a really smart safety preventive program we can somehow facilitate in the neighborhood.
